Latest Stuff and Tings

Hi there, I hope you’re well. This is my first blog and my first ever post so this is all kinds of new to me. I hope you like the site, it’s taken me a while to finish but i’m almost there I think.

I also feel that I can safely say i’ve finally finished unpacking after my latest move, which sets a new record for me taking a mere 2 months (I hardly had to pack when I left my last place ‘cos I hadn’t really got round to unpacking in the 8 months i was there).

All this free time means I finally got round to watching the Frank Turner dvd that’s been lying around the house since well christmas and i’m glad I did because it’s pretty damn cool.

If you’re a musician and a fan of Frank Turner you’ll understand immediately why watching this made me insanely jealous. The mans a damned lyrical genius and whats worse is he seems like a really genuine nice guy, so I can’t hate him.

His lyrics capture ordinary life events so accurately and honestly you can’t help being able to relate. Listen to The Real Damage and you’ll know exactly what i’m talking about, the way you feel if you’ve ever walked home at 7 in the morning watching other people go to work. Ahh, good times.

The main feature on the dvd is basically a tour diary with glimpses of his live sets from venues all around the country during the tour, broken up with interviews with him during his travels. The best part of these in my opinion is when he explains the meanings behind some of his lsongs. Most of the songs you’ll be familiar with from his latest album Sleep is for the Week and his earlier EP Camp Fire Punk Rock.

It’s also got some of the official Frank Turner music videos included which means i’ve finally got to see the video for Vital Signs, which is awsome btw (keep an eye out for Jamie Lenman if you ain’t seen the video yet).

If you’re a guitarist have a go at deciphering the notation, I couldn’t figure it out on my TV so I think i’m gonna stick to downloading the tab online. On that note I started learning Wisdom Teeth recently, once i’d dug my damn capo out from the depths of whatever box it had wound up in.

If you haven’t heard of Frank Turner before or if you missed out on his previous exploits with Million Dead. Then I’d recommend listening to Sleep is for the Week by the solo Mr Frank Turner or Million Dead’s first album A Song To Ruin if you like your music a lil’ harder.

Personally I enjoy a little acoustic folk punk in my life and can’t wait ’til he’s next playing in a venue near me.

Anyway the dvd’s called All About The Destination and it’s well worth the watch if you’re a fan of either band, Frank Turner or Million Dead.
